Rita G. (Regan) Souza, 88, of Wareham, passed away peacefully at The Tremont Healthcare Center on Thursday, January 29, 2026 . Born in New Bedford she was the daughter of the late Sheridan Regan and the late Georgette (Cournoyer) Regan and loving wife of the late Julio Souza and previous wife to the late Phillip Faria.
Rita was a lifelong, devout Catholic. Growing up she attended and lived at the Sacred Heart Academy where she cultivated her deep faith. She later graduated from St. Anthony's High School and remained a dedicated parishioner at many of the local parishes. She was a curious historian and traced her family lineage back to the 1600s. Rita loved to sing and play the the piano.
Survivors include her daughters, Sherri Surette and her husband William, Karen Ares and her husband Michael; grandchildren, Francesca Saber, Amy Ratliff, Matthew Ares; brother-in-law, Robert Boucher and his wife Jeannette; nephew and godchild, Steven; nephews Scott, Mark and niece, Teresa. Rita is preceded in death by her sister, Roberta Boucher.
In accordance with her wishes, Rita will be cremated.
