Flora Alexander was the beloved daughter of Orrie Hudson and Ola Mae Grice Hudson. She was born in
Tallahassee, Florida on August 18, 1935. Flora was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years: Charles Alexander; both of her parents; sisters: Carrie J. Mitchell, Frances H. Allen, Julia Hudson, Louise H. Hendriett and Barbara H. Pickney; and brothers: Roosevelt, Leroy, Solomon and Carlton Hudson.
The Hudson family originated in Lawtey, Florida. Flora grew up in Southwest Leon County in the Hudson Community, off of Springhill Road. Her immediate and extended family was large, and Christianity was a central force in their lives. They worshipped at Springhill African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church during her developing years.
Flora attended the schools located in their neighborhood. She liked to learn. For most of Flora's career, she worked as a homemaker. Flora was always complimented for her fashion sense and her sweet soul, and the way that she cared for others. Flora loved her family and friends unconditionally.
Flora and her husband, Charles, had two children, Deborah Alexander and Charlotte Alexander. She loved her family very much. She had two grandchildren, Shakari Gilbert and Niyah Alexander. Niyah's son, Kyrie Bridges was Flora's first great grandchild. She loved Kyrie with all of her heart. Being a wife, a mother and raising a family were such special parts of Flora's life.
Exercising and reading were also important to her. Flora liked to go on nature walks and sit outside feeling the fresh air, as well as listening to the birds singing. Flora loved to read the newspaper every day. She also enjoyed cooking for her family. On holidays, she would wake up early in the morning to begin cooking. Flora also enjoyed going to church. Her favorite flower was a tulip. Traveling to different cities, talking and spending time with loved ones were other activities that Flora enjoyed.
Flora celebrated her 90th birthday on Monday, August 18, 2025. Three years ago, Flora experienced declining health and on Sunday, January 25, 2026, she finished her earthly course. Her love and memory will be cherished forever by her loving daughters: Deborah Alexander and Charlotte Alexander; two grandchildren: Shakari Gilbert and Niyah Alexander; a great-grandson: Kyrie Bridges; sister: Odell Hudson Virgil; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
It is our profound honor to have been entrusted with the care of Mrs. Alexander and to serve the Alexander Family.
