Flora Marshell

On Wednesday, September 11, 2024, Flora (Montero-Castro) Marshell, 97, of Spring Grove passed away at Pleasant Acres Rehab and Nursing Center in York. She was the devoted wife of the late Eugene P. Marshell, who passed in 1975. Flora was born in San Jose, Costa Rica to the late Carlos Montero and Carmen (Castro) Montero on December 29, 1926. During her working career, she enjoyed being an accountant and an architect before she retired. She was a member of the Southern York County Senior Center in New Freedom; the Windy Hill Senior Center in Spring Grove; the American Leigion in Costa Rica; and she was a resident of the Golden Visions Adult Day Care for several years prior to moving to Pleasant Acres. Flora enjoyed painting with watercolors; crocheting, knitting, and making clothes by hand.
She is survived by her daughter Rita M. Marshell and husband Frank Cap; two grandchildren, Carolina Brookens and Gabriel E. Herrera-Marshell; three great-grandchildren, Zoey, Daniel and Vincent; one sister, Maria Cristina Montero; and seven nieces and nephews, Ricardo and Miguel Montero, Raymundo, Marcela, Alejandra, Mauricio and Eric Miranda. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and three siblings, Oscar, Isabel, and Jorge Montero.
