Flora Lavon Sharp, 93-year-old longtime Spavinaw resident, passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2025, in Pryor surrounded by family. She was born on July 15, 1931, in Mountain Home, Arkansas to Johnny William and Allie Gertrude (Douglas) Young. She married Jerry Forbis and the two were married until his death in 1975. She later married Farrell Sharp and the two were married until his death in 1997.
Flora worked as a phlebotomist and later as a salesclerk for Wal Mart and Reasor’s. She loved to fish and enjoyed camping. She was an amazing cook and always ensured that everyone left her table with a full stomach. Flora was also a gifted seamstress, making clothes for her grandchildren and crocheting various projects. She was also an avid NASCAR follower, with Tony Stewart being her favorite driver.
She is survived by her grandchildren, John Trout (Nikki) of Spavinaw, Oklahoma, Misty Trevino of Pryor, Oklahoma, Jerry Trout (Melissa) of Langley, Oklahoma, Robert Stephenson (Charmaine) of Bernice, Oklahoma, Shea Stephenson of Ketchum, Oklahoma, Andrew Forbis of Ketchum, Oklahoma, Madilyn Callery (Kreg) of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Thomas Forbis of Ketchum, Oklahoma, Benjamin Gouger (Ericka) of Ketchum, Oklahoma; 13 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Joe Wallace of Ketchum, Oklahoma, Jim Wallace of Missouri; and host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Jerry Forbis and Farrell Sharp; children, Peggy Forbis, John Edward Forbis, and Sandra Trout; granddaughter, Kristi Trout; brothers, Dennis Wallace, Paul Wallace, Bob Wallace, Jerry Wallace; and sister, Patsy Lucille Wallace.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 P.M., Monday, May 12, 2025, at Luginbuel Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at 2:00 P.M. in the Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Michael Arthurs officiating. Interment will follow in Ketchum Cemetery, Ketchum, Oklahoma with Jerry Trout, John Trout, Robert Stephenson, Robert Trout, Jaydon Trout, Caleb Higgins serving as casket bearers. Marcus Higgins will serve as an honorary casket bearer.
