Flora Mae Turner, age 97, passed away peacefully of natural causes at Arcadia Senior Living in Milton, FL on October 6, 2025. A beloved Mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother and friend, Flora lived a long and remarkable life defined by love, hard work and deep devotion to her family and most of all to God.
Born in Mullins, SC on November 21, 1927 to Emma Lottie and Isaac Kelly Jones, Flora was raised and worked on the family farm until she left home. She started a family and had eight children. In 1963, she gave her life to the Lord and he called her to take her children and move to Pensacola, FL. There is where her life really began. She attended Words of Life Pentecostal Holliness Church where she served and worked for the Lord in almost every capacity imaginable. While there, she was ordained as a minister in the Pentecostal Holiness Church. In later years, she attended Pace Assembly of God until she was no longer physically able.
Even though she moved into assisted living in 2019, she still found ways to serve the Lord there. She started a Bible study and when she was no longer able to do that, she would go to individual's rooms and sing, read the Bible and pray with them. When it became difficult for her to sing and read aloud, she would invite people to come to her room to see her collection of over 50 angels. Everyone there knew where she stood with God and that he was the most important thing to her along with her family. Her room became known as the happy room.
She was predeceased by her parents, Emma Lottie and Isaac Kelly Jones, her ten siblings, her grandson, Richard Clinton Bigler, and great, great grandson, Emry Oliver Wood.
She is survived by her eight children, Benny Turner and his wife, Gracie Turner, Peggy Enslow, Nellie Tinsley and her husband, Donovan Tinsley, Ronnie Turner and his wife Nadia Turner, Glenn Turner, Gwen Goodman and her husband, Steve Goodman, Sharon Woods and her husband, Larry Woods, Randall Turner and his wife, Janet Turner, her 19 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.
Flora's life was one of purpose and deep love for her family and for God. Her legacy will live on through the values she instilled and the memories cherished by all who knew her.
Her family will hold a funeral service at Pensacola Memorial Gardens in Pensacola, FL, on Sunday, Oct 12, 2025 at 2:00 pm central time. Family visitation is from 12:30-1 pm, Public visitation from 1-2 pm. There will be a graveside service following the funeral.
Donations made be made to Victorian Manor Residential Care Home in lieu of flowers.
