Memorial services for Florence "Flo" Jensen will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, June 10, 2023, at the Presbyterian Church in Lone Rock. Burial will be in Burt Township Cemetery. Visitation will be held an hour prior to the funeral service at the church.
Florence "Flo" Beth (Anderson) Jensen was born August 3, 1948 in Des Moines, daughter of John O. and Ethel Louise (Townsend) Anderson. She grew up in Estherville and graduated from Estherville High School in 1966.
On September 2, 1966, she was united in marriage to Ken Egel. They lived in Mankato, MN while he served in the Vietnam War. They then lived in Boston where she worked as an x-ray assistant for two years before returning to Estherville. They later divorced and Flo moved to Minneapolis where she worked in nursing.
Flo returned to Estherville and on September 2, 1989, Flo was united in marriage to James "Jamey" Jensen. Upon marrying, they lived and farmed near Lone Rock. She held various jobs including a nurses aid, cook at the Spirit Lake Hospital, and worked in the activities department at Good Samaritan Society in Algona until her retirement.
She enjoyed reading, flower gardening, decorating for different seasons, and collecting Red Wing Pottery. She was well-traveled and took several trips to Jamaica. Flo was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Lone Rock.
Flo died Monday, December 19, 2022, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Fairmont, MN. She was 74.
She is survived by her son, Garet (Brenda) Egel of Lynn Center, IL; four step-daughters, Brenda Jensen of Sioux Falls, SD, Julie Myrbo of Oklahoma City, OK, Amanda Jensen (Greg Atkinson) of Jefferson City, MO, and Ann Jensen of Oklahoma City, OK; three grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death are her parents; husband, James "Jamey" Jensen; stepson-in-law Chuck Myrbo; step-grandchild Solstice Jensen.
