Florence E. Lunato, age 91, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at her home in Eastlake, Ohio, surrounded by love and family.
Born on February 11, 1934, in Cleveland, Ohio, Florence was the beloved wife of the late Antonio R. Lunato, with whom she shared a beautiful and enduring love. Together, they built a legacy rooted in family, faith, and joy.
A devoted and loving mother, Florence is survived by her children Antonio R. (Angela) Lunato Jr. and Terri A. Lunato. She was the cherished grandmother of twelve: Joseph Merkys, Samantha A. (Thomas) Heider, Nicole Lunato, Antonio R. Lunato III, Ann Marie (Robert, deceased) Strickland, Damion R. (Neve MacQueen) Cano, Mark A. Cano, Grace M. (Andrew) Pringle, Samantha L. (Ryan Doberstyn) Cano, Joshua A. (Veronica) Park, and Tiana L. Park. Florence's love extended to her twenty-one great-grandchildren: Tyler, Kalie, Alivia, Alexis, Jaymie, Cole, Emeri, A.J., Jaylynn, J.J., Lilah, Brooklyn, Sidney, Juliana, Lincoln, Mallory, Adalynn, Nolan, Paisley, Luna, and Teddy, all of whom brought endless joy to her life.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Antonio, her dear daughter Tina M. Merkys, her grandson Timothy Merkys, her parents Ralph and Florence E. Jurkoshek (nee Welsh), and her siblings Ralph (Dora) Jurkoshek, Frank Jurkoshek, and Jack (Marie) Jurkoshek, as well as her sister Theresa (Ray) Rogaliner.
Florence was the treasured sister-in-law of Ruth Jurkoshek, and dear aunt to Cherie (Jim) Carmigiano and many other nieces and nephews. She also held a special bond with her son-in-law, Joe Merkys.
Florence lived a life filled with laughter, music, and meaningful connections. A true lover of country music and line dancing, she brought energy and joy to every gathering. She was never happier than when she was surrounded by friends-laughing, chatting, and sharing stories over good food and warm company.
Her presence was a light in the lives of many, and her warmth, wisdom, and spirited nature will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege to know her.
Family and friends will be received on Thursday, May 29, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 38001 Euclid Ave., Willoughby. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, May 30, at 10:00 AM at Immaculate Conception Church, 37940 Euclid Ave., Willoughby, Ohio.
In honoring Florence's life, we celebrate a woman whose love and laughter created a legacy that will live on in every heart she touched.
