Raymond Paul Snyder, Sr., a proud U.S. Navy Veteran and lifelong Clevelander, passed away on October 2, 2025, in Mentor, Ohio, at the age of 83. Born on September 13, 1942, to the late Raymond and Shirley Snyder, Ray lived a life defined by service, loyalty, humor, and an unforgettable spirit.

Ray was the beloved husband of 54 years to the late Rose M. Snyder (née Pudlowski), and together they built a family he cherished above all else. He leaves behind his loving children Kristine Wood, Michael (Barb) Snyder, Melissa (Tony) Zakelj, and Raymond (Geri Bryan) Snyder Jr.; treasured grandchildren Michael, Alescia, Allison, Christopher, Erica, Jack, Amanda, Raymond III, and Elizabeth; and six great-grandchildren who brought him endless joy. He is also survived by his brothers Robert (Denise) Snyder and Gary Snyder, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers Edward, Lawrence, and William Snyder.

A proud graduate of Collinwood High School, Ray was an avid Cleveland sports fan, which meant he endured decades of heartbreaks and improbable losses that seemed reserved only for Cleveland. He often joked that cheering for the Browns, Indians/Guardians, and Cavaliers required a lifetime of patience-and a few Miller Lites. Ray also loved the game of golf and the camaraderie that came with it.

In his youth, Ray and his brothers spent time on a family farm in Orrville, where their strong bond was formed. That bond lasted a lifetime, as Ray deeply missed his deceased brothers. His Navy service was one of his proudest achievements. During the Cuban Missile Crisis, his ship was called to blockade Cuba during one of the most critical moments in American history, and he never forgot the importance of that duty.

Ray was many things-husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, veteran, sports fan, and storyteller. But above all, he was unapologetically himself. He often said he wanted to be remembered simply as a "son of a bitch"-and yet, anyone who knew him also knew he was loved by many. His sharp wit, honesty, and warmth will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A celebration of Ray's life will be held at a later date, where his family and friends will gather to raise a glass of Miller Lite in his honor.
