Florencio F. Valenzuela of Belford, NJ, passed away on August 6, 2025 at the age of 76. Known affectionately as Rency, he was born on February 23, 1949, in Quezon City, Philippines, to Saturnino and Consolacion Valenzuela, one of eight children.
After immigrating in 1980, Rency became a U.S. citizen in 1985 and built a respected career, serving over 30 years at the Essex County Hall of Records following roles at IBN and Hertz. His dedication earned him recognition and widespread admiration from colleagues and the community. Rency found solace in his garden, nurturing flowers, fruits, and vegetables with care, and took pride in small projects around the house and yard, always working to make his home a haven. His radiant smile and cheerful laughter brought joy to every moment, often while sharing stories over homecooked meals or a cup of coffee. A passionate photographer and videographer, he preserved memories of family gatherings and travels, capturing life's beauty through his lens. His love for travel led him to explore the world, but he held a special place for the Philippines, where he maintained a cherished home and reconnected with his roots.
Rency is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Betty; daughter, Grace and her husband, Tyler; grandson, Lucas and step-granddaughters, Bella and Ava; and extended family and friends in the U.S. and Philippines. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Linda, and nephew Leonard.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 10th from 3pm - 6pm at the John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, 115 Tindall Rd. Middletown, NJ.
Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, August 11th at 10:30am at St. Mary Mother of God Church, 19 Cherry Tree Farm Rd. Middletown, NJ.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, August 13th at 11am at Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests a kind act in Rency's honor, reflecting his generous heart. Rency's warmth and light will live on in all who knew him. May his memory be a blessing.
