Florenze George “Buzz” Boyer III of Trumansburg passed away at Cayuga Nursing and Rehab on Saturday, October 11, 2025 at the age of 80.
Born on August 22, 1945 in Trumansburg, he was a son of the late Florenze and Marilynn (Fudger) Boyer Jr. Buzz graduated from Charles O. Dickerson High School in Trumansburg before furthering his education at Cornell University, where he earned a degree in engineering. His degree led him to a career in quality control at Therm Inc. in Ithaca.
Buzz was a lover of the outdoors and found joy in the simple pleasures of nature, embracing activities such as fishing and hunting. His vast knowledge of animals and plants was a source he shared with his family and children.
Buzz is survived by three children, Mona Bower, Michelle (Sean) Boyer-Farrell, and Danielle Boyer; grandchildren, Maria (Brian Colon) Boyer, Zachary Piotti, and Gray Bower; siblings, Robert Boyer, Cheryl (Bob) Shaw, and Darrel Shaw; nephews, Jeremiah Boyer and Jason (Alana) Boyer; and several great nieces and great nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step father, Robert Shaw; and a brother, Randy Shaw.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00pm on Monday, October 27, 2025 at Ness-Sibley Funeral Home, 23 South Street, Trumansburg.
