Bruce Carl Vann, age 72, of Trumansburg passed away on September 13, 2025, in the company of family and friends, at Hospicare.
Born on February 14, 1953, in Ithaca, Bruce was the son of the late Carl and “B” (Newman) Vann. He graduated from Charles O. Dickerson High School in the Class of 1971, where he forged a multitude of lifelong friendships.
Bruce devoted much of his life to the Village of Trumansburg, serving with the Department of Public Works for 31 years, ultimately as Supervisor. Whether in this official capacity or as a volunteer, he leant his expertise and commitment to numerous projects that touched every corner of the village.
He was immensely proud of his community as well as his family, and was beloved by both. Ever patient, he was as eager to learn as he was to teach, and his kindness, thoughtfulness, and understated humor were evident in all his interactions.
Bruce is survived by his wife of 39 years, Karen Martin Vann, and their two daughters, Sally Bea (Christopher) Vann-Ploss and Eliza A. (Ernest Davis) Vann; brother, Mark (Sonja) Vann; and a large extended family.
A Gathering to honor Bruce’s memory will be held from 2:00-5:00 PM on Friday, September 26, at the Village Park, 69 W Main Street in Trumansburg (Farmers’ Market location).
The family asks those that would like to make a contribution in Bruce’s memory to kindly consider the Three Falls Local Development Corporation, to support the revival of the former Camp Barton where he spent many happy days. Three Falls, LDC Ulysses Town Hall. 10 Elm Street, Trumansburg, NY 14886.
