Florine Pierce

Florine Koonce Pierce was born to, the late, Samuel Whitman and Manita Koonce on May 3, 1950. She went from labor to reward on June 9, 2024 in her home.
She was reared in a Christian home by her uncle and aunt, the late, Thomas and Ophelia Sawyer in Halls, TN. She was a faithful member of Cleaves Temple CME Church until the Lord called her home.
Florine was a 1968 graduate of Halls High School. Furthering her education, she attended Nursing School at Tennessee State University in Nashville; earning her LPN certification in 1969. She entered the workforce afterwards being employed by Parkview Hospital and Internal Medical Clin-ic. Retiring from her Nursing career, in 1996, Florine joined the staff of Currie's Funeral Home in Henning, TN where she remained dedicated and faithful until her passing.
In 1972, Florine married, the late, Gene A. Bennett and this union was blessed with a baby girl they named Kamela Elaine. Later, in 1984, she married, the late, Rev. Bernie Pierce.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her uncle and aunt, and one brother, Danny Koonce.
Florine leaves to cherish her memories, her daughter, Kamela (Curtis) Salter; two grandchildren, Briana Alexis Salter and Gabriel Jordan Koonce Salter, all of Antioch, TN, one sister, Paulette (John) Vaughn, goddaughter, Shantell Malone (Eldred) Tyus, all of Gates, TN, her mother-in-law, Lizzie Lake Bennett of Halls, TN, a special and close friend, Frank Currie, Ripley, TN, and a host of nieces nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
