Flossie Larkins Obituary

Published by Legacy on Mar. 19, 2024.
I'd like to begin by thanking everyone for coming to celebrate Flossie's life. Flossie was the most helpful person I've ever known and I know many of you would agree. She with her beauty and charm had a wonderful way of helping whoever approached her.
Flossie Smith was born December 13th, 1955 here in the city of Louisville. She was the fifth of eleven children born to the late Raymond Sr. and Betty Washington Smith. Her sisters and brothers were Ina, Betty, Raymond Jr, Reuben, Steve, Willie, Wanda, John, Phillip, and Sandra. When the family got together daily watching television Flossie was always ready to tell us extra information about the movies and actors we were watching.
Flossie Mae went to Shawnee High School and graduated amongst the top of the class. Going on to complete CNA Certification she worked in hospitals downtown. She retired after 35 years of Certified Nursing at Jewish Hospital. She had a strong work ethich of helping and doing the right thing.
In 1978 Ms.Smoth met William Larkins and they were married in the same year with a separation the next year.
Fossie received numerous awards for her work service, perfect attendance, and having a helpful personality.
One of my favorite memories with Fossie was when she talked about her salvation. She was very proud to speak of her accepting the Lord at the early age of 5. When I was 5 she began coming home from church school at Emmanuel Baptist to pick me up and take me to Church Service. As a teenager she felt that children needed to be in the worship service. Another memory of Flossie was watching her give and help others in their time of need. She started her prayers with "The Lord is my shepherd I shall not want" and with this inspiration she lived her life.
At the age of 68 Flossie found peace in the midst of sorrow. She was taken away from us Saturday March 16, 2024. Leaving to cherish loving memories 2 sisters, Ina Yarbrough, Wanda Smith, and 3 brothers, Raymond Smith Jr, Reuben, and Phillip. Also a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and other relatives celebrate Flossie Mae Smith Larkins this day.
She touched each and every one of us and has left us with memories we will cherish forever. Thank you.
