Floyd W. Kruger

Floyd W. Kruger, 98, passed away Monday, February 17, 2025, at Community Memorial Hospital in Cloquet, Minnesota. He was born on August 5, 1926, in Brainerd, Minnesota, the son of Fred and Clara (Frederiksen) Kruger.
Floyd graduated from Duluth Central High School and after graduation he enlisted in the United States Air Force. After he was honorably discharged, he returned to Duluth and was hired on at the Northern Pacific Railway as a switchman/brakeman/conductor. In later years, Floyd was elected General Chairman of the United Transportation Union and retired at the age of 60. Floyd married Harriet Youngbauer in April of 1956. Together they raised six children and were married 63 years. He enjoyed many interests including building model airplanes, and hunting and fishing, where many great memories were made with family and friends. However, his greatest joy was spending family time at Aerie Lake cabin.
Floyd was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Harriet; son, Walter; great-grandson, Michael Fox; and his sister, Kathy Atkins. He is survived by his children, Nancy Fox, David (Patty), Keith (Shelly), Ken (Deb), and Kyle (Angie) Kruger; 12 grandchildren, Jason, Heather, Jessica (Bob), Tiger, Steve (Ann-Sofie), Dan (Cara), Kristina (Aaron), Brittany (Ben), Michael, Katelin (Anthony), Karley (Joey), and Kelly; 17 great-grandchildren, Carter, Jasmine, Jackie, Juli, Taylor, McKenzie, Averie, Amelia, Anna, Kayden, Kallen, Kamden, Wyatt, Carson, Hunter, Riley, and Savannah; 2 great-great-grandchildren, Ocean and Addison; and special niece, Sharon Linford.
In lieu of flowers and to honor Floyd's memory, donations may be made to the Ronald McDonald House Charities or your local food shelf.
A service for Floyd will be held Saturday, March 29, 2025, at Nelson Funeral Care in Cloquet with a visitation from 11:00 a.m. until the 12:00 noon memorial service. Military Honors will be presented by the Cloquet Combined Honor Guard. A luncheon will follow in the fellowship room.
