Floyd Alton "Buddy" Lynch

AHOSKIE, NC - Floyd Alton Lynch, fondly known as "Buddy" and affectionately called "Big Daddy" by his grandchildren, passed away on November 21, 2025, at ECU Health Roanoke-Chowan Hospital in Ahoskie, North Carolina. Buddy was a beloved son, born on June 04, 1950 in Northampton County, NC to the late Clarence Lee Lynch and Jeanette Vaughan Lynch.
He retired from the North Carolina Department of Corrections and was a proud veteran, having retired from the Army National Guard after 31 years of honorable service. His commitment to duty and country was a testament to his strong character and unwavering resolve.
Beyond his professional life, Buddy was a passionate lover of Beach Music, with the Band of Oz holding a special place in his heart. His enthusiasm and devotion to the genre earned him the esteemed recognition as Carolina Beach Music Fan of the Year. In recognition of his contributions and service, he was also a recipient of the Long Leaf Pine.
Buddy's legacy is cherished by his beloved wife, Janet Newbern Lynch; his children, Greg Lynch and wife Brandi of Colerain, and Jennifer Curlee and husband Tyler of Greenville; and his treasured grandchildren, Karlee, Wyatt, and William Lynch, and Cash and Addie Kate Curlee. He is also survived by his sisters, Kathy Peede of Aulander and Alice Branham of Rocky Mount, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
A gathering to honor Buddy's memory will take place on Sunday, November 23, 2025, from 3:00 pm until 5:00 pm at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service in Ahoskie, NC. A private family burial will be held at Highland Memorial Gardens in Ahoskie, NC. In this time of loss, may we find comfort in the memories we shared with Buddy, a devoted family man, a dedicated servant, and a true enthusiast of life's simple pleasures.
