Floyd Leo Shelters, age 92, lifetime Howell resident, passed away at his home, Friday, October 6, 2023 with his family by his side. He was born July 12, 1931 in Ann Arbor, the son of Irving and Marie (Duquett) Shelters. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Priscilla (Veith), sons Gary (Joanne), Brian (Lynn), Brian (Lori) Tyler, and daughter Cheryl (Russell) Marx. Also survived by his 11 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, sister Clara Ann (Frank) Dobias and sister-in-law Phyllis Shelters. He was preceded in death by his brother Irving Shelters and sister Betty Lou Shelters. Floyd was the former owner of Brighton Garage Door, a 1951 Howell High School graduate (and class president), spent 70 years as a Mason with Howell Lodge #38 F.&A.M, former member of the Michigan National Guard, a talented woodworker and carpenter, was active in attending community events like the Downtown Concert Series and enjoyed spending time with his buddies at the coffee roundtable. Most of all he loved spending time and being close to his family for any occasion. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, October 10, at 11:00 AM at the First United Methodist Church of Howell. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the church. Interment will be at Lakeview Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to the church Memorial Fund.
