Forrest Clarence Vickery, age 89, of Anderson, SC, passed away peacefully with family and caregivers at his side on Wednesday, April 2, 2025.
Born June 23, 1935, in Hartwell, GA, he was a son of the late Clarence Vickery and Desi Brown Vickery. He was married for 64 years to Ruby Lee Fleming Vickery until her death in 2018. He was also preceded in death by siblings, Thomas Vickery, Sara Hillhouse, Doris Rainey, Gladys Davenport, and Billy Ray Vickery.
Forrest was a graduate of Hart County High School and was employed with Owens Corning Fiberglass retiring after 38 years. Some of his favorite pastimes included golfing, fishing, and gardening. He was a faithful member of Hopewell Baptist Church where he formerly served as a deacon and was a member of the choir. He was a loving father and grandfather. He would always brag to his friends that he has the best grandchildren! They were especially dear to his heart!
He is survived by his sons, Stephen Vickery (Carin), Eric Vickery (Amanda), and Glenn Vickery (Susan); brother, Charles Vickery; sister, Bobbie Jean Cash; grandchildren, Allie Vickery Fant (David), Maggie Fleming Vickery, Megan Olivia Vickery, and Matthew Glenn Vickery; and great grandson, David Haynie Fant, III.
The family would like to give a special thank you to his caregivers, Miss Eva, Sonya, Ruth, Wanda, Monica, and Doris for the wonderful 24-hour care provided, home cooked favorite meals, and sincere love!
The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 6, 2025, from 1:30-2:30 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 3:00 pm in the Chapel with his nephew, Rev. John Fleming officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park alongside his beloved Ruby Lee.
Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to Hopewell Baptist Church, 3530 Hopewell Rd., Anderson, SC 29621, or PAWS, 1320 US-29, Anderson, SC 29626.
