Frances M. Adkins, a beacon of love and faith, passed away peacefully on February 25, 2026, in Wayne, New Jersey. Born on November 5, 1939, in Furman, South Carolina, to the late John and Maybell Hopkins, Frances grew up surrounded by a large and loving family. She was the cherished sister of Nellie M. James, Essie L. Leach, Gearline Hopkins, and Corine Kennedy (married to Wilbert), and was preceded in death by her brothers Johnny James, Alfred (Teddy), and Rodney Hopkins. She was also a beloved sister-in-law to Lillie Rose Gillison and Queenie Atkins, and a dear sister-in-law to Joe L. Adkins.

Frances's life was a testament to her unwavering faith and the love she had for her family. She married the love of her life, William B. Adkins, who predeceased her, and together they raised a beautiful family, including their children William Adkins, Jr. (Jackie) and Doris (Adkins) Hannah (Tom). She was a proud grandmother to Shanita Adkins, Keith Hannah, Terrence Hannah, William R. III Adkins, Derek Hannah, Adrion Hannah, Aliyah Adkins, and the late Nicole Adkins. Her legacy continued to flourish with her great-grandchildren, Adrionna and Legend Adkins.

Her early education was in the public schools of Furman, SC, where she laid the foundation for her lifelong pursuit of knowledge and personal growth. Frances's professional life included dedicated service at a lamp manufacturing company in Passaic, New Jersey, and a pharmaceutical company in Waldwick, New Jersey. She also found joy and purpose in being an Avon and Popular Club Distributor, connecting with her community and providing for her family.

Frances was a Christian who lived her faith through action. She was a pillar in her church community, where she enjoyed attending services and events. Her interests extended beyond the church doors, as she had a passion for sewing and was always on the lookout for treasures at estate sales. Frances's love for travel took her to many places, but her favorite journey was always back to the hearts of her family and friends.

Those who knew Frances would describe her as loving, thoughtful, and gentle. She approached life with a kindness that touched everyone she met. Her home was a haven of warmth, where laughter and love were always in abundance. Frances completely enjoyed spending time with those she held dear, and her presence was a gift to all.

As we remember Frances, we are reminded of the words of Maya Angelou, "I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." Frances made us all feel loved, valued, and cherished. Her memory will be a guiding light for her family, a reminder of her gentle strength and profound compassion.

Frances M. Adkins lived a life of purpose and grace, leaving a legacy of love that will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched. She will be deeply missed, but we take comfort in knowing that her spirit has found peace in the arms of her Savior. As we bid farewell to this remarkable woman, we celebrate the life she lived and the love she shared.
