Frances Applin

Fran passed away last week at age 92. She was born in Texas, but soon moved to Tawas where she graduated with the East Tawas High School Class of 1951. She married fellow classmate, John Applin, in 1954 and they had 51 years together before his passing. They had 2 children, Linda Scholtz (Dennis), and Craig Applin (Jayne), and 3 grandchildren. They returned to Tawas after retiring and she joined the Tawas Bay Art Gallery. She became a longtime member and successful artist and made many wonderful friends. No longer wanting to live alone she later moved to Tawas Village where she happily spent her last years. There are many fond memories of visits and trips and especially all the good times that were had at the hunting camp on Tawas Lake with family and friends. She was loved and she will be missed. Cremation has taken and a private celebration of life will be held later.
