Mrs. Frances "Renee" Barney, 50, of Phenix City, Alabama, passed away peacefully on Friday April 22, 2022, at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia, while surrounded by her loving family.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 26, 2022, at Vance Brooks Funeral Home 3738 U.S. Highway 431 North Phenix City, Alabama from 6-8:00 PM EST.
Mrs. Barney was born in Columbus, GA the daughter of the late Marsha Cargill Cannon. She was a graduate of Columbus Tech where she studied to be a Certified Medical assistant. During her career she also achieved National Certified Medical Assistant status. Mrs. Barney worked for Family Physicians of Columbus the office of Doctors Joseph Lewis and Mark Sexton. At the office she was the Practice Manager and worked there for over 17 years. Renee was an avid Alabama Crimson Tide Football Fan and could always be found in front of the TV on game day. She enjoyed going to the beach/lake and loved sun worshipping. She enjoyed laughter and making others enjoy laughter as well. She was also known as a "Mama Bear" when it came to her children and family. Above all, she cherished the time she got to spend with her family.
Renee was preceded in death by her maw-maw Martha Cargill. Maw-Maw was responsible for helping to raise and mold her into the woman she became.
Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband of 32 years Rodney A. Barney, Jr; daughter Macey Barney of Phenix City, AL; son Bradley Barney of Phenix City, AL; four sisters Marsha "Jodie" Ray (Kevin) of Crawford, AL, Sharon Adams of Phenix City, AL, Angie Wishion (Lee) of Forest City, NC and Ginger Miller of Columbus, GA; brother Eric Cannon of Forest City, NC and many other extended family members and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society P.O. Box 22324 New York, NY 10087.
