Frances "Betty" Burgess passed away on August 9, 2025 in North Wales, PA after a short illness. She was born on August 15, 1934 to the late William Nelson and Temperance Nelson. She was born at Abington Memorial Hopsital in Abington, PA.
Betty was a devoted mother, sister and loving partner. With her late husband, Leon Norris, she was blessed with two children: the late Willamae Scott and Leon Norris. In 1978, she met the love of her life, Nathaniel Burgess, with whom she shared a deep and lasting bond until her passing.
A woman of strong faith, Betty was alongtime and faithful member of Zion Baptist Church, where she served as a deaconess under the leadership of Pastor Gerald L. Champman, Sr. Her devotion to her church and community was unwavering.
In 1979 she began working at Central Sprinkler, where she was known for her dedication and strong work ethic. After 20 years of service, she proudly retired in 1999.
Frances was preceeded in death by her parents, William and Temperance Nelson; her daughter Willamae Scott; and her siblings Mary Jane Brooks, Walter Nelson, Gloria Nelson, George Nelson, Ethel Torres, and Billy Nelson. She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved husband, Nathaniel Burgess; her son Leon Norris; her stepson Tony O. Newman; her siblings Bobby Nelson, Georgianne Gaskin (Walt) and Joranne Brunson (Sam); her grandchildren Keisha Hamilton, Latisha Scott and Anthony James (Jasmin) her great-grandchildren Kamay Hamilton, Temperance Hamilton, Willie Hamilton, Nasir James, Jamir James, Bashir James, and Gianna James; and her great-grandchild Kelani McNight. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear freidns, all of whom were touched by her kindness, strenght and grace.
Betty's life was a testament to love, faith, and perseverance. She will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
