Frances Floy Camerer, 80, of Albert Lea, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at the Good Samaritan Society in Albert Lea, with her family by her side.
Born on September 9, 1944, in Albert Lea, Frances was the youngest daughter of the late Orin and Maxine (Halstead) Hagerud, and was raised in the charming town of Glenville. A graduate of Glenville High School, Frances fulfilled her longtime dream by obtaining her nursing degree from Riverland Community College. As a Registered Nurse, she dedicated many years to healthcare, with a special passion for caring for children. Her kindness was evident in every interaction, whether serving as one of the initial crew members of the Freeborn Volunteer Ambulance or tending to young patients in her care.
Frances married her beloved husband, Donald, on November 20, 1993, in Austin, Minnesota. Together, they shared many cherished memories, including vacations to their treasured Hide Away retreat in Hackensack and their later move to Longville, where they built a life filled with love and laughter.
A woman of strong faith, Frances was an active member of the Longville Bible Chapel, where she served as a Sunday School teacher and volunteered at the Longville Food Shelter, Miracle Bible Camp, and the Longville Bible Camp. Her commitment to her faith extended to her involvement with the Bridge Community Church in Albert Lea, where she often brought friends, sharing both fellowship and joy. Frances also took pride in her leadership roles within the community, serving as the President of the VFW Post 447 Auxiliary and as a member of the American Legion, Post #56.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Laine Ladlie, Melissa Ladlie, and Katrina “Kate” Harrell; stepchildren, Patricia, Sarah, and Timothy Camerer; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many extended family members and friends.
In addition to her parents, Orin and Maxine Hagerud, Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Camerer; and her siblings.
