A proud graduate of Sacred Heart Academy, Buffalo, NY, Sister Frances Clare entered the Sisters of St. Francis of Penance and Christian Charity on September 2, 1947 and was professed August 18, 1950.
Sister Frances Clare's principal ministry was Education.
She received her Bachelor's degree in Education from Rosary Hill (Daemen University) in Amherst, NY in 1960. Sister Frances Clare served in New York at St. Ann School, Buffalo (1950-51, 1954-55, 1957-58); St. Lawrence School, Buffalo (1958-60);St. Peter's School, Lewiston (1979-83); St. Joseph School, Gowanda (1951-54, 1987-99); and in Ohio
at Sacred Heart School, Columbus (1955-57); St. Leo School, Columbus (1960-63, 1972-79); St. Rose School, New Lexington (1963-71, 1984-87); St. Bernadette School, Lancaster (1971-72); and St. Mary School, Delaware (1983-84).
After retiring in 2000, she volunteered at Columba-Brigid Montessori School in Buffalo, NY and Francis Center, Niagara Falls, NY. In 2012, during the renovations at Sacred Heart Academy, Buffalo, NY, she moved to Stella Niagara where she became a resident of the Stella Niagara Health Center.
Besides her parents, Sister Frances Clare was predeceased by Sister Mae Perry, RSM, Edward J. Perry, Sister Lurana Perry, RSM, Eugene T. (Norma) Perry, John A. (Mary Ann) Perry, Sister Rose Perry, OSF, Patricia A. (Joseph) Hinterberger, Nelson J. (Mary) Perry, Robert L. Perry, and Ursula A. Perry.
Sister Frances Clare is survived by her sister, Anna Perry, many nieces and nephews as well as her Sisters in the Stella Niagara Community.
Wake at Stella Niagara on Wednesday, June 19 from 6-7pm with a prayer service at 7:00 PM and Mass of Christian Burial in the Sister's Chapel on Thursday, June 20 at 10:00AM.
Memorials may be made to the Sisters of St. Francis, Stella Niagara, NY 14144.
