Frances Davis Crump (December 30, 1924 - January 12, 2026)
Fran Davis Crump went to our God's eternal home on January 12, 2026. She was 101 years old and a strong Christian woman throughout her life.
A Celebration of Life service for Fran will be held at 1 P.M., on Sunday, January 18, 2026, at the Wiley Glen Rose Funeral Home, 504 Holden St., in Glen Rose. A committal service will be held at Merrell Cemetery in North Dallas.
Fran was born in small town
Waverly, Illinois to Bertie Hagan Davis and Clarence Davis, and was the last surviving family member of eight children. As a child, Sundays always included church and her grandfather reading the Bible to the family gathered around the living room. During her active high school years she became a coronet player, cheerleader, drum majorette, and accomplished tap dancer. Several years after graduation she moved to Joliet, Illinois and went to work for the government defense plant in support of our country during World War II. She then moved to Springfield, Illinois where she entered and won a modeling contest to move to their agency in downtown Chicago. From there she was hired as a product model for RCA, working big trade shows at the iconic Merchandise Mart downtown. While at RCA she was offered and became the showroom office manager for Canadian firm Clairtone, back when women were rarely promoted to those positions. There she would meet and then marry the love of her life, George Crump from Dallas. They moved their family with two sons to Irving, Texas where she completely devoted herself to family, and a new life in Texas that they never imagined. Two years later they moved to
Glen Rose, Texas where he loved spending weekends around the Paluxy River and Oakdale Park growing up. The new home they built was based on her design and interior decor plans. And she loved decorating and hosting their home for the annual Christmas Pilgrimage. During that time they opened The Marketplace On The Square, which she owned and managed while he served as County Judge until shortly before his passing. It also became a place for friends to get together over coffee and local news. She said it was the best time of their lives. She later overcame breast cancer at 66 and was a 35 year cancer survivor. Her devoted life was defined by strength, resilience, class, and giving love. She was preceded in death by her husband George Crump, and is survived by her two sons, Michael Davis of
Granbury, Texas, and Steven Crump of Richardson, Texas.
