Frances Ann Gerard
Essexville, Michigan
Frances Ann Gerard, a beloved figure known for her kind spirit and creative soul, passed away peacefully on January 13, 2025, in Bay City, Michigan. Born on December 20, 1936, in Sterling, Michigan, Frances lived a life marked by love, artistry, and the joy of simple pleasures.
Frances's early years in Sterling laid the foundation for a life full of cherished family moments and a deep sense of community. She found her lifelong passion at the Bay City Times, where her commitment and work ethic shone brightly. Frances's artistic talents were also evident in her exquisite ceramic pieces, which brought beauty to many lives and homes.
Her zest for life extended to her personal interests. Frances was an avid NASCAR fan, a voracious reader, and an enthusiast of the great outdoors, relishing in camping adventures. She could often be found immersed in a puzzle, a pastime that reflected her patience and attention to detail. Above all, Frances cherished the time spent with her family, creating memories that would last for generations.
Frances's legacy is carried on by her loving children, George (Cindy) Gerard Jr. and Clay Dean (Lisa) Gerard; her adoring grandchildren, Randy, Raymond, David, Eric, Justin, Boggs, Tyler, Hunter, and Logan; and her many great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, who will all miss her dearly. Her sister Arlene Scarpace, brother Joe (Shirley) Derus, and brothers-in-law Richard, Bud (Jennine), and CJ (Carol) Gerard will fondly remember her warm presence and nurturing spirit.
Frances was preceded in death by her devoted husband, George Sr., her daughters Tina Gerard and Patricia Cupery, her brother John Derus, and her sisters Veronica Jeske and Bernice Vanhorn. Their reunions in the life beyond are a comforting thought to those she leaves behind.
Those who knew Frances will remember her as the embodiment of kindness, always ready with a word of encouragement or a helping hand. Her spirited nature was infectious, and her creative flair was admired by all who had the pleasure of experiencing her artistry.
As we bid farewell to Frances Ann Gerard, we celebrate a life well-lived, full of moments that exemplified love, creativity, and the joy of being together. Her story is one of a journey well-traveled, leaving behind a trail of beauty, laughter, and heartfelt connections. Frances's memory will continue to inspire and guide us, just as the stars she now joins once guided her through the night skies during her cherished camping trips.
We take solace in knowing that Frances's impact on the world will endure through her family, her art, and the countless lives she touched. Her spirit, forever imprinted on our hearts, will be our guiding light, reminding us always of the love and beauty that can be found in the simplest of pleasures.
Frances's life will be celebrated in a service that honors her memory and the joy she brought to all who knew her. As we gather to pay tribute to this remarkable woman, we will share stories, laughter, and perhaps a few tears, but above all, we will share the love that Frances so freely gave to each of us.
Funeral service will be on Sunday January 19, 2025 at 7pm at Rivertown Funeral Chapel with Pastor Roger Bauer presiding. Visitation will be on Sunday from 2pm till time of service. The family would like to say special thank you to CJ Gerard, Tammy Hubbard, and Vicky McTaggart for the care for Fran.
