Frances G. Hruska, 95, formerly of West Pittsburg passed away the evening of September 11, 2024 at UPMC Jameson Hospital.
Born in New Castle on September 19, 1928 Frances was the daughter of the late Frank and Alice Straw Paglialong.
In 1949 Frances married her beloved husband, Andrew "Andy" Hruska. Andy preceded her in death in 1985.
Frances had worked as a telephone operator for Sears Department Store for over twenty years. She went on to work as a cashier at Volant Mills in downtown Volant.
Frances was a member of Holy Spirit Parish, St. Vitus Church. She was an avid reader and enjoyed playing bingo, scratch off lottery tickets and shopping. Frances was very much a "people person" and loved doing things for others. She had a great sense of humor and was known for her story telling. A loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Frances's greatest joy was the time she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Frances is survived by her children, John Hruska (Mary Lou), Linda Valentino (Rudy) and Andrew M. Hruska, Jr., her sister-in-law, Sheryl Paglialong, seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Frances was preceded in death by five brothers, Charles, Eugene, Theodore, Raymond and Frank Paglialong.
Visitation will be on Monday 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home & Crematory, 941 S. Mill St. A Blessing Service will follow on Monday at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Rev Fr Aaron Kriss of Holy Spirit Parish will officiate.
Burial will be in St. Vitus Cemetery.

I worked with Fran at Sears and visited her while I still lived in New Castle. Sweet Fran you will never be forgotten. RIP
