James “Jimmy” Medure, 84, of Neshannock Township, passed away peacefully on October 8, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on November 27, 1940, the son of the late Peter and Adeline (Carbone) Medure. Jimmy was married to Rosemary (Juliano) Medure for 59 years. For over 30 years, Jimmy was the owner of a New Castle cornerstone, Medure’s Restaurant and Lounge.
As a teen and young man, Jimmy was reared on the South Side and enjoyed exploring New Castle and Youngstown with his lifelong friends, Anthony Staph, Joe Bullano and Carmen Lamancusa. Upon graduating from New Castle High School, Jimmy served his country with honor in the U.S. Army, primarily stationed in Germany. Upon returning home, Jimmy honed his skills as a charismatic salesman, working for several years as a salesperson at Haney’s Furniture Store, before establishing his legacy at Medure’s.
Built on the concept of Italian Fine dining, but never losing its foundation of a family experience, Medure’s became recognized in national food and travel publications as a western Pennsylvania destination for first dates, special occasions, and an unforgettable night out. Jimmy greeted every patron by name and an embrace, making each diner feel like family.
Truly a family affair, Jimmy’s mother, sister and aunts prepared the homemade pasta and Italian dishes, his father-in-law cut every steak in-house, his wife managed the payroll, and his children, nieces, nephews and countless family members staffed the bar, dining floor and kitchen.
In his free time, Jimmy enjoyed Sunday dinners with family, attending his grandchildren’s events and cheering on Pittsburgh sports teams.
In addition to his wife, Jimmy is survived by three children James Patrick Medure (Erin Doran), Jason Medure (Bobbi Marshall), and Joshua Medure (Dana Flora), all of New Castle, 9 grandchildren, James Paul (Blakely), Anthony, Joshua (Angelina, fiancé), Juliana, Nina, Mara, Nico, Dante and Italia, brother Matthew (Darlene) Medure, sister Patricia Cook, sister-in-law Patricia Casalandra, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Jimmy was preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law Patsy and Josephine Juliano and brother-in-law Ronald Cook.
