Frances Elizabeth King

Frances Elizabeth King – age 92, of Mascot, TN, passed away on September 14, 2025. Frances loved her family and telling stories about her many grandchildren. She loved her preacher, her church family and was a lady of great faith. She was a member of Holston Baptist Church, Andrew Johnson Highway.

She loved gardening, especially her flowers and was a wonderful seamstress. She made over 100 quilts to be sure each family had one. She also loved canning, especially her jams and jellies. She retired from Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center.

Frances was preceded in death by her spouse of 49 years, Carl Nathan King; parents, Harvey and Margaret Johnson; son, David King; daughter-in-law, Barbara King; grandsons, Donnie Ray Wood and Joey Eugene Bright; granddaughter, Amanda Starr Bright; and brother, Austin Johnson.

She is survived by her daughters, Alma Gilliam and Sandy (Joe) Bright; sons, Charles (Faye) King and Michael King; daughter-in-law, Carolyn King; grandchildren, Nathan (Staci) Wood, Michelle Phelps, Bonnie (Tim) Kesterson, Chris King, Alesha King, April (Orion) Conrad, Rachel King, and twins, Matthew (Kaitlyn) and Johnnie (Sapphire) King; 19 great-grandchildren; and 18 great-great-grandchildren, with one on the way.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM on Wednesday, September 17, 2025 at Holston Baptist Church. A Funeral Service will follow at 7:00 PM, with Rev. Toby Downey officating. Family and friends will meet at 1:45 PM on Thursday at Salem Cemetery for a 2:00 PM Graveside Service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Frances' honor may be made to the Shoe Box Ministries at Holston Baptist Church, PO Box 520, Strawberry Plains, TN 37871.
