Frances Lawhead Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 16, 2025.
Frances Cecilia Lawhead was born in Ely , Minnesota on February 19, 1925. She had a wonderful life which ended in Marietta, Georgia on Aug 11, 2025. After graduating from Ely Memorial High School, she worked briefly during WW2 in California shipyards. When she returned to Ely, she worked as a waitress at Vertin's Cafe for many years. She eventually started a second job as bookkeeper at the American Fraternal Union (AFU). After retiring from AFU, she moved to Georgia in 1995 to help her younger son, Robert, and family. She was instrumental in raising her only grandson.

She is preceded in heaven by her mother, Frances Yakich, and father, Lewis Yakich. Her siblings, included Tony Yakich, Peps Mizera, Lou Yakich, Joe Yakich, Luds Yakich, Rose Gavigan, and Mary Erickson. She is survived by her sister, Marge Buraglio, sons Wayne Allen, Robert Gerard, grandson Robert William, and great grandsons Robert William Junior, and Thomas Alexander Lawhead.

She was loved by everyone that knew her and she was a positive influence on people around her. She enjoyed doing many things: watching Viking football, knitting, quilting, playing with her dog and eating sweets. Mostly, she loved taking care of her family. She will be missed.

Ashes will be interned on Aug 24, 2025 at 12:00pm. Gravesite service will held at the Ely Cemetery.
