Frances "Terry" Leth

April 16, 1936 – January 24, 2025

Frances Todd was born in Los Angeles on April 16, 1936 to Frances and Dr. John Todd. She was quickly given the nickname Terry which she used her entire life.

Growing up in Fremont Place, in Los Angeles, she attended the Marlborough School and went on to enroll at the University of Southern California. There she met her future husband John (Jack) Leth the first day of freshman registration. They were ultimately married for 68 years. At USC, Terry pledged Delta Gamma Sorority where she made lifelong friends. Terry graduated with a degree in Education.

Terry and Jack raised their three daughters Christy, Linda and Suzanne in Rancho Palos Verdes. During their married life they created wonderful memories camping and sailing with their girls. They also traveled the world, especially enjoying Windstar Cruises. Terry was an avid Laker fan, often ironing Jack’s work shirts watching a game. Terry was active in the local Assistance League, coached her girls’ soccer teams, and worked as a counselor at The San Pedro Peninsula Hospital.

Terry had a penchant for lovely things. She enjoyed entertaining, set a gorgeous table, and effortlessly put dinner on the table. Terry loved her cashmere sweaters and the jewelry Jack bought her every Christmas.

When Jack retired, they moved to Incline Village, in Lake Tahoe, where they lived for over 20 years. They relished being involved in the local community enjoying potlucks on the beach with friends, boating and having their kids and grandkids visit. Terry loved knitting with her “Stitch and Bitch” group. They had a wonderful circle of dear friends and cherished the memories they made during their time there.

Terry was predeceased by her parents Frances and Dr. Todd as well as her younger brother Johnny. Terry is survived by her loving husband Jack, Christy Leth Tew, Linda Leth, Suzanne Kretschmer, Hugh Kretschmer, Andrew Leon, Jennifer Leon, Nicholas Motta, Emily Kretschmer and Thomas Kretschmer.

Terry led a full life and will be sadly missed.
