With deep sorrow our family announces the death of James Peter Leth, 87, who died at his residence in St. George, Utah on October 12, 2025 of an extended illness.
Born June 17, 1938 to Jens A. and Lena M. Leth, Peter resided in Ogden, Utah, attended Ogden city schools, graduated from Ogden High School, with intermittant studies at Weber State College.
Peter served in the Navy from 1956 to 1958 as Quartermaster on the SS Serius in San Francisco, California. Peter acquired astute language skills in Danish while serving a two year LDS Mission in Denmark from 1959-61.
Peter managed and supervised janitorial contracts when employed by Scandia Maintenance - SLC, Utah, as well as owning and operating, We Clean Windows in Ogden, Utah. Peter gained employment with LDS Business College as Buildings and Grounds Supervisor until retirement.
Retiring in St. George, Utah, Peter was employed by St. George City as greens keeper at Southgate Golf Course where he worked fervently to improve his golf game. Peter was an excellent golfer, he found great joy in being on the golf course in the early morning with all the waking wildlife.
Peter Leth is survived by his wife, Sue Leth, and daughters, Jean Shackel, Jan Millard, Michele Barton, (husband Bruce), son, Michael Stevenson, sister Judy Price, (husband Tom), 13 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. He has now joined many of his loved ones who have preceded him in death.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, October 17, 2025 at 11:00 am at the Church of Jesus Christ, Hidden Valley Ward, 130 Hidden Valley Dr. St. George, Utah.
A Visitation before the funeral for family and friends will be held at 9:45 to 10:45 am.
Graveside Services will be held Monday, Oct. 20, 2025 at 1:00 pm, at Leavitts Mortuary, 836 36th Street, Ogden, Utah.
