KERNERSVILLE - Frances Reynolds McGuire went home to be with her Lord January 8, 2025, after a long battle with Pancreatic Cancer. She handled her sickness with a grace that was amazing to witness; never angry and continued to reflect on how her passing would affect others. She wanted her light to be a witness to others about God's grace and how assurance of salvation can make any situation bearable.
Frances had a strong Christian faith and was very intelligent and introspective. She spoke her mind but did it in a way that made people feel comfortable. She studied her bible every day and found strength in God's love. Frances loved her friends and family and always put them first. She was a mentor and confidant to many people in her life and made a lasting impression on those who knew her.
She was a lifelong student, writer, talented painter, and avid rummy and scrabble player. She loved to go to yard sales and consignment shops. She loved to cook and to listen to bluegrass/gospel music. She enjoyed gardening, dogs, visiting with friends and family and watching birds in her backyard. These things gave her peace and helped her deal with the stresses of her life. Frances worked with Kernersville Ladies Civitan for many years and enjoyed her involvement with the other members and the people they helped and fundraised for.
Frances was a full-time caregiver for over 10 years for Bill who has Alzheimer’s, until he went to live at the NC State Verteran's Home (Kernersville) in 2024.
Frances was preceded in death by her parents; Lena Virginia "Billie" Burk and Edward Gale Reynolds; Siblings, Jimmy Bosley and Sharon Bosley. Frances is survived by her husband of 56 years, William "Bill" McGuire; two children, Timothy Lewis McGuire (Tonya) and Sarah McGuire Lazo (Fernando); grandchildren, Tucker Lewis McGuire (Kaylee), Tessa Camille McGuire, Ashley D. Lazo Holder (Scott); and one aunt, Margie Reynolds.
A Memorial Service will be held at 3pm Saturday, January 18, 2025, at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel. The family will receive friends from 2 to 2:45pm prior to the service.
