Frances Josephine Modrowski

Frances Josephine Modrowski (nee Wypiski), age 86, of Indianapolis, IN, passed away on Wednesday November 27, 2024.
Frances was born on May 17, 1938, in Gary, Indiana to Frank and Josephine (Langa) Wypiski. She is survived by her children: Roger (Debbie) Modrowski and Renee Modrowski (Gary Weinreb); grandchildren: Nicholas (Lisa) Modrowski and Lindsey (Philip) Yankauskas; and great-grandchildren: Levi and Tyler Modrowski, and Hanna, Connor, Abel, Philip, and Lucas Yankauskas. Frances was preceded in death by Eugene Modrowski; and her parents: Frank and Josephine Wypiski.
Frances was an alumnus of St. Hedwig Grade School and Emerson High School class of 1956. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Education and a Master of Science in Education from Indiana University and a Master in Administration and Supervision from Purdue University.
Frances was a member of Christ the King Parish in Indianapolis and the Indiana Retired Teachers Association. She was a 32-year employee of the Gary Community School Corporation where she taught at Edison Middle School and was the Chairman of the English Department at Emerson Visual and Performing Arts Academy. She also taught GED night school at Lew Wallace High School and adult education at the Gary Career Center. Frances took pride in her career as a teacher and her dedication touched countless lives. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, December 11, 2024 from 10:00 AM until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at Nativity of Our Savior Catholic Church, 2949 Willowcreek Rd., Portage, IN 46368. Inurnment to follow at Calvary Cemetery, 2701 Willowdale Rd., Portage, IN 46368.
