Frances Neibauer

Frances was born on March 31, 1930 in North Dakota. She was one of 13 children to Joseph and Elizabeth Ternes. They lived on a farm and Frances along with her brothers and sisters grew up helping their parents run the farm which included baking bread, harvesting corn, digging potatoes, feeding various farm animals along with milking 25 cows every morning before school and again at night without the help of automation.

Frank Neibauer, a Marine during World War II, participated in battles in Okinawa and Iwo Jima when he was only 17 years old. After he was discharged from the service, he met Frances and they later married in October, 1948. In 1959, Frank and Frances, pregnant with their fourth child and their three other girls, moved to Portland. Frank had lived in Portland with family before the war and they wanted to start a new life. Frank later passed away in 1966 and Frances was a widow with 4 small girls to raise.

Frances was an active member of the Altar Guild for many years and enjoyed comradery and volunteering. She is remembered for her beautiful crochet and hand-made quilts, pot-holders and many other sewing items she donated to the church's annual bazaars. Frances is survived by three daughters, Stella Weil, Diane Ward and Donna Neufeldt. Son-in-Law Tom Ward. Six grandchildren, Lori LeQuieu, Richard Hergert, Danielle Buls, Casey Ward, Nicole Cubillos and Josh Smith. Six great-grandchildren, Kenzy Buls, Corbin Buls, Eli Ward, Blake Ward, Rylie Ward, Xander Cubillios.

She follows in death, her husband Frank Neibauer, daughter Shirley Hergert ,grandson Jake Ward and 2 son-in-laws, Richard Hergert and Robert Weil, and grandson-in-law Nate LeQuieu.

A rosary will be held for Frances at 6:30pm on November 12, 2025 at Gresham Memorial Chapel and Mass service will be held at 10:00am on Thursday, November 13, 2025 at St Joseph the worker .
