Mrs. Frances Smith-Pennix was born in Washington D.C. on December 18th, 1950. She was the youngest child of the late Willam and Annie Mae Smith. She was proceeded in death by her father, mother, husband Richard Pennix, Aunt Mary Johnson, brother John, sister Rosie, granddaughter Ashley, and her nephew Charles Martin (aka Peanut).
She accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age at the Mount Joy Baptist Church, Southeast, DC where she served on the usher board. She was educated by the DC public school system until the eleventh grade. She worked for the GW Hospital as a nurse aide and as a mail sorter for the Washington post.
She loved the lord, dancing, and her family; especially her grandchildren and she loved sweets.
She formed a close bond with her nephew Charles (Peanut) as he called her "Aunt Socky" affectionately. Frances shared that her niece Cynthia (Inky) was the daughter that she never had.
Frances was a faithful member of the Spring Hill Baptist Church in Blackstone, VA. She faithfully attended church services and continued to give her tithes and offerings even when her health declined. Throughout Frances life, she was a source of laughter, joy, and unforgettable stories that will last for generations.
She leaves to cherish fond memories: her siblings; Harold (Dorothy) & Pearl; two sons, Darrell Smith Sr. (Christine) and Carlos Pennix; five grandchildren, Heaven, Darrell Jr, Daniel (Treniquis), Victoria (Sam), and Kayla; Great-grandchild Kaden; Cousin Dorothy Loretz (Jasper), A cousin that she grew up close with; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins, and special friend Sammy Bolling.
