Frances Eileen Rummell, age 95, of New Philadelphia, died peacefully, on Saturday, September 7, 2024, while in the care of Park Village Southside at New Philadelphia.
Born on October 2, 1928, in New Philadelphia, Ohio, Frances was a daughter of the late Charles E. and Ida F. “Pudd” Wherley Aubihl.
Frances was a graduate of New Philadelphia High School and on February 29, 1948, married Carl Edward Rummell. Together the couple had 10 children and celebrated 70 years of marriage prior to Carl’s passing on August 13, 2018.
Together the couple enjoyed being members of the Tusco Traveliers Camper Club and traveled throughout the United States in their RV. Frances cared for her family as a homemaker and was an active part in the daily life of the family’s dairy farm. Her faith was nurtured at the Uhrichsville Church of Christ, where she and Carl were longtime members.
When not caring for her family, Frances enjoyed working in her flower beds, sewing, crocheting, reading, and working on jigsaw puzzles.
She is survived by her children, Kathleen (Mark) Portyrata of Tuscarawas, Jane (Aaron) Thrasher of Centerville, Tennessee, Kenneth (Vivian) Rummell of Orrville, Loretta (Randy) Armstrong of Uhrichsville, Paul (Susan) Rummell of New Philadelphia, Sara (Thomas) Morgan of Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, Esther (Michael) Tatman of Uhrichsville, Peggy (Charles) DuBois of Stone Creek, Connie (Robert) Wise of Dennison and Lois (Richard) Ferris of New Madison, Ohio.
Completing the family are 18 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren, her step-grandchildren and their families as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Frances was preceded in death by two brothers, William Aubihl and Charles Aubihl.
The family will greet guests Wednesday, September 11, 2024, from 4:00 – 6:00 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Pastor John Gibson will lead a service celebrating Frances’ life in the funeral home’s chapel on Thursday, September 12, 2024, at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow in the Ridgecrest Memory Gardens at Dover.
The family requests memorial contributions be directed to Ohio’s Hospice, 716 Commercial Avenue SW, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663.
