On Thursday, April 14, 2022, Frances Carol Smith, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister passed away at the age 71.
Frances was born on March 25, 1951, in Heavener, OK to Virgil and Janice VanDyck. She was a Del City alumni, who went on to graduate from Midwest Beauty College. On July 25, 1967 she married the love of her life, Fred Smith. They met and became sweethearts at the earlyage of 14. They raised three beautiful daughters, Ginny, Hayley, and Melissa.
Frances had a heart for others and a passion for working with the youth in various little league sports. Frances and Fred served as the Choctaw Little League coordinator for 12 years. She coached numerous children throughout the years, always leaving a positive impact. Frances would often take her ball team on family vacations, always treating each one like they were one of her own. To her players she was known as "Frannie or Fran."
She loved spending time with her beloved grandchildren and precious great-granddaughter. The girls referred to her as their Ma/Mamo. During the holiday seasons you would see her and her girls either baking or crafting. She especially enjoyed decorating cookies and constructing gingerbread houses. If you heard music coming from the den, you knew Ma was in there dancing away with her special girls.
