Frances Taylor Obituary

Frances Louise Taylor, 92
Frances Louise Taylor, the matriarch of her family, died on June 22nd, 2023.
Born on August 28th, 1930 in Chappells, South Carolina, she was raised across the Carolina border in Sawmills, NC where she graduated from high school in 1948.
Moving to Newport News, Virginia, she met Richard Taylor, an Air Force pilot, at a party at Buckroe Beach. They were married on February 13, 1955, a marriage that was to last for 50 years. As her husband served in places like Savannah, GA, Moses Lake, Washington, and Yakota Airbase, Japan, she raised a growing family. Her son Gary was born in Japan in 1958, her daughter Sandra in Alabama in 1960, and her son Keith in North Carolina in 1963. They purchased a home in Dover, Delaware, residing there permanently in 1974 following her husband's retirement. There she kept house on a quiet, leafy street where she took long walks with her Yorkie terrier and was a much beloved member of a close-knit neighborhood.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Taylor; and her brother, James Icard.
She is survived by two sons, Gary Taylor of Columbia, Pennsylvania and Keith Taylor of Arlington, Virginia; a daughter, Sandra Walbridge of Bruceton Mills, West Virginia; and two grandchildren, Dana and Miranda Taylor.
Funeral services will be held 12 noon, Thursday, June 29, 2023 at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt.10), Dover. Friends may call one hour prior. Interment will be at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro.

May God's loving kindness and comfort help you and your family through this very difficult time. Mathew 5:4

Fran was much loved by every member of the Hartley family. She is the reason our parents never left Fiddlers Green. I have great memories of her being a very kind, wise, funny and caring person. She definitely had an impact on our entire family and of course Liz being her neighbor these last 13 years was a great joy to her. She truly was like a member of the family. Whether she wanted to be or not! Rest in Peace Fran. Love, Ann and all of the Hartleys.
