Frances Thompson, age 86 of Bloomfield, Nm (formerly of Aztec, Nm) left this earth on May 26, 2025. She was born August 7th, 1938 in Hereford, Tx to SC and Garnet (Woolsey) Brewton.
Frances graduated from Hereford High School in 1956. She attended San Juan College in Farmington, Nm in her late 50's studying archeology.
Frances was a bookkeeper for many years working for Levi Strauss in Texas and California then returning to Texas keeping books for different cattle feedyards in the Panhandle until her retirement. Fran lived her latter years in Roswell and Aztec, NM. She had a love of the outdoors and lived on the Animas River for many years where she gained solitude by listening to the river and watching her hummingbirds. She was a longtime contributor to World Wildlife Fund. Fran was an accomplished artist having sold many of her paintings of area scenes including Mesa Verde, Shiprock and Monument Valley.
She was preceded in death by her parents. Sister Ruby Sandoval, brother Charlie Brewton, nephew Kurt Lookingbill and longtime companion Darwin, her beloved cat. Having no children of her own, Those left to carry on her memory Are nephews; Kelly (Tonya) Lookingbill of Friona, Tx and Steve (Roxy) Brewton of Severance, Co. Nieces Kimberly (David) Fry of Fort Worth, Tx, Dana (Brad) Gilbert, Linda Brewton, & Lisa Nelson all of Midland, Tx. Numerous great-Nephews and nieces. Also, her dear friend Jolyn Owens and the Gomez families of Aztec, Nm
