FRANCIES COLLEEN STEVENS was born on July 13, 1969. She is the daughter of the late Dan and Alena
Stevens of Bay Minette, AL. Colleen as she was affectionately called, was baptized July 7, 2001, as one of
Jehovah's Witnesses. As a member of the Bay Minette congregation, she wanted to honor her God
Jehovah, the Creator of all things. She took pride in helping people learn about Jehovah God's Kingdom
and the Bible's many promises. Fellowshipping with brothers and sisters from her local and surrounding
congregations brought her great joy. She was able to visit JW headquarters in Warwick, New York twice.
Colleen graduated from Baldwin County High School in 1987. She later received her Associated Degree in
Business Administration from Faulkner State Community College. She was married to the late Darryl
Lenzy of
Mobile, Alabama. After their divorce, she met her son's father and moved to Texas. Upon
moving back to Bay Minette, AL. she worked for Standard Furniture Company for twenty-two years. Once
it closed, she became a substitute teacher for the Baldwin County Board of Education. But her greatest
and most fulfilling job was being a loving provider and a devoted single mother.
Colleen was the 15th rose in the Stevens Family bouquet of 16 children. She loved good music, singing,
dancing, arts and crafts, fishing, going on cruises, traveling, watching football, playing games, and above
all, spending time with her family. She was a good baker, known for her delicious zucchini bread. She had
a tender heart and a beautiful spirit. She deeply loved and treasured her nine sisters. She was a loyal
friend. Despite having some health issues which slowed her down, she pressed on as much as she could.
Colleen was a kind, sweet, and sensitive soul.
On the afternoon of Wednesday, October 22nd, Colleen fell asleep in death. Hours prior, she was
comforted by her two sons, daughter in love, and family. Her hospital room was filled with lots of love,
laughter, singing, handholding, and uplifting prayers. It was a beautiful scene. DeCarlos reminded the
family of the comfort the Bible gives comparing death to sleep (John 11:11-14); giving us hope that
Jehovah God can awaken the dead and give them life again. (Job 14:13-15)
Colleen was preceded in death by her father; Dan Edward Stevens, mother, Alena Mae (Thigpen)
Stevens, brothers; Willie E. Hall, Sr., Johnny E. Thigpen, Sr., Marion D. Mims, and Tommy A. Mims all of
