JACKSONVILLE - MGySgt Francis "Frank" Marsicano, USMC Ret., 84, of Jacksonville, North Carolina passed away on September 16, 2024 at his residence. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, September 26, 2024 at Infant of Prague Catholic Church. Burial, with full military honors, will follow at Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.
Mr. Marsicano was born on August 10, 1940 in Manville, New Jersey to the late James and Agnes Finc Marsicano. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Shirly (Shirl) Lucy Marsicano; sister, Agnes Marsicano; and brothers, James Marsicano, Robert Marsicano, Paul Marsicano and Anthony Marsicano.
He retired from the Marine Corps, after serving 20 years. He was stationed at Camp Lejeune, Okinawa, Iwakuni, and Vietnam. One of his most pleasant memories was his 4 years of recruiting in Houston, Texas. He was a member of the men's church choir and made many friends. After his military retirement, he went on and worked civil service at Cherry Point, NC for the next 20 years. He was a faithful parishioner of Infant of Prague Catholic Church.
He was an avid golfer for many years. After retirement, he spent most of his time playing golf at Jacksonville Country Club where he was a member for over 40 years. He enjoyed the camaraderie with fellow golfers and the many golfing trips to Myrtle Beach, Hilton Head, and Pinehurst. He was also a member of the North Carolina Seniors Golf Association, Tidewater Carolina Senior Golf Association of Eastern North Carolina, and the Tidewater Senior Couples for many years.
He is survived by his children, Christine Marsicano, husband Frank Bartol of McKnightstown, PA and Anthony "Tony" Marsicano, wife Suzanne of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren, Joshua, wife Chelsie, Kaylee, husband John, Anna and Nicholas; great-grandson, Oliver; sister-in-laws, Mary Marsicano of Manville, NJ and Helen Marsicano of Forest City, PA and several extended family and close friends.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening, September 25, 2024 at Jones Funeral Home, Jacksonville Chapel from 6:00 to 8:00 PM
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to repairing Gods Church, Infant of Prague Catholic Church in Jacksonville, NC.
