Marilyn Frances Smith Justice, a beloved matriarch and devoted caregiver, passed away peacefully on October 21, 2025, at her home in Jacksonville, NC, at the age of 90. Born on January 15, 1935, in Portsmouth, NH, she graced this world with her nurturing spirit and unwavering love for her family.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 30, 2025, from 9:00 to 11:30 a.m. at Johnson Funeral Home in Jacksonville, NC, followed by a funeral service at 11:30 a.m. Graveside services will take place at Onslow Memorial Park.

Preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Lee Justice Sr.; son, Jimmy Lee Justice Jr.; daughter, Robin Cheryl Golden; and brothers Reginald Fredrick Smith and Richard Carroll Smith, Marilyn leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion.

She is survived by her sons, Todd Farron Justice of New Bern and Michael Dwayne Justice of Jacksonville, NC; brothers, Ronald Grant Smith, and Larry Guy Ward; seven grandchildren, Erin Girardin, Matt Girardin, Allyson Moran, Nathan Justice, Bree Johnson, Nicole Delgado, and Meadow Justice; three great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and her daughter in law Dianna Justice of Orange, TX.

Marilyn was the cherished wife of the late Jimmy Lee Justice Sr., whom she met when he was stationed in New Hampshire. Together, they built a life filled with love and resilience. While her husband served overseas, Marilyn took on the role of homemaker with grace and dedication, ensuring that her family was always cared for and supported.

A woman of many talents, Marilyn had a remarkable green thumb, tending to her rose garden with the same care and attention she gave to her loved ones. Her culinary skills were renowned, with her lobster rolls and steak being family favorites. Holidays were always celebrated at her home, where she created a warm and welcoming atmosphere for all.

Marilyn's collection of lighthouse art and knick-knacks reflected her love for the sea and her New England roots. Despite living in North Carolina, she proudly retained her New Hampshire accent, a comforting reminder of her heritage.

Marilyn was a caregiver in every sense of the word, always putting others above herself and worrying about her family and grandchildren with deep affection. Her grandkids meant everything to her, and she was their guiding light and source of unconditional love. Marilyn Frances Smith Justice will be remembered for her loving heart, her steadfast devotion to her family, and her ability to create a home filled with warmth and joy. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

In memory of Marilyn Justice, a loving, kind, and selfless woman who dedicated her life to helping others, we are raising funds for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
