Francis Paul George Schade of
Carversville, PA, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family and loved ones on October 26th, 2023, a day after celebrating his 88th birthday.
Born October 25th, 1935, in Croydon, PA, Francis spent the majority of his adult life in
Carversville, PA where he raised his family. He was the beloved husband of Elizabeth G. Schade (Bock) for 64 years, and following her passing on August 13, 2021 always made sure to keep a light on for her so she would know he was still with her.
Francis was preceded in death by his parents, Clement V. Schade and Edith May Schade (Strawley) of Croydon, PA, his brothers; Clement A. Schade of Croydon, PA, Charles Schade of Levittown, PA, and Joseph Schade of Doylestown, PA, and his sisters Edith (Schade)Vetter of Wellsboro, PA, and Helen Schade-Moroz of
Aberdeen, MD.Francis was the adored patriarch of the Schade family; father to Francis Schade Jr. and the late Joanne Dean Schade of
Mantua, NJ, Cynthia Schade Pellington and Carl Douglas Pellington of Bushkill, PA, and Elizabeth Ann Schade and Vladiislav Ivanov of
Staten Island, NY. He was revered by his grandchildren Carl Francis Pellington and Elizabeth Pellington of
Lexington, SC, Stephannie Ann Schade Hagerty and Frank Hagerty of
Pitman, NJ, Cathleen Pellington Kindred and Christopher Kindred of Manheim, PA, Corey Pellington and Zachary Vaile of
Philadelphia, PA, and Connor Pellington of
Manchester, NH. He was an immensely proud great-grandfather to Colleen Pellington, Landon Pellington, and Liam Pellington of
Lexington, SC, Collin Kindred and Keegan Kindred of Manheim, PA, and Delilah Hagerty of Pitman NJ. He was recently excited to receive news of his next upcoming great-grandchild to Stephannie Ann Schade Hagerty and Frank Hagerty; his family knows he continues to watch over them with much love.
Francis was a protective and caring Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Great-Grandfather. Family meant everything to him, and he consistently went out of his way to offer support whenever and wherever he could. He spent his career of 42 years working for Bell Atlantic (Verizon), and following his retirement spent his time delivering hoagies for his Nephew Larry Schade at the Little Store in
Doylestown, Pa. Affectionately called "Poppie" by his grandchildren and great-children, it was commonplace for them to receive unexpected letters in the mail from B.F.D.O.D. (Big Fat Dear Old Dad), almost always with a "little spending money". It was a joke that he gave away more cars to family members in need than most people will ever own. He enjoyed spending time in his yard; mowing on his tractor and planting daffodils, as well as listening to music and collecting vinyl albums. Diagnosed late in life with diabetes, you would frequently see him on his daily walks with his walkman and headphones. Notorious for his refusal to use technology, he came to enjoy being able to tell Alexa to play his favorite artist John McDermott. His Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren couldn't go to his house without helping him mow the yard, or receiving a roll of quarters he would save for them.
Idolized by his family, Francis loved and was loved fiercely. His absence will be felt everyday, and his family finds comfort knowing he is at rest in eternity with his beloved Elizabeth.
It was his wish to be joined with his wife Elizabeth, and a celebration of their life and legacy will be announced at a later date. Services entrusted to John F. Givnish Life Celebration Home of Buckingham. The family would ask in lieu of flowers, please make a donation for Diabetes Research at
