Francis John Strohm, born on December 22 1942, passed away at 12:45 AM on Friday, April 18, 2025 at the age of 82. Francis, better known as "Frankie," to friends and family, possessed a unrivaled spirit of love for both life and family.
Francis was born to parents Mary and Joseph Strohm in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, New York. Later, he was raised by Irene and Joseph Brady in Elmont, New York. He was the second youngest of seven children.
Francis enlisted in the United States Navy in 1960, at the age of 17. He served honorably during the duration of the Cuban Missile Crisis and was honorably discharged on October 9th, 1966. In civilian life he worked as a Head Custodian in the Elmont Union Free School District until his retirement in 1999. Additionally, he served as a volunteer firefighter in the Elmont Fire Department from 1964-1984. In his later years, he lived happily in retirement in Saint Augustine, Florida with his loving wife Helen.
Francis was preceded in death by his siblings Joseph Strohm, Lawrence Strohm, Jane (Strohm) Stanczuk, Edward Strohm, Kathleen (Strohm) Sarna, and Lucille (Strohm) Montrony. He is succeeded by his loving wife of 58 years Helen Strohm, his son Dcn. Keith Strohm (Deborah), his daughter Kerry Kangiser (Brent), and two loving grandchildren, Christopher Michael Lynch and Siena Marie Strohm, in addition to an abundance of loving cousins, nieces, and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Strohm Foundation, 34 E. Main St #410 Smithtown, NY 11787.
