Frank John Bersterman Jr. passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on April 5, 2022 after a well fought battle with cancer.
Frank was born September 17, 1954 in Baltimore Maryland and moved to New Jersey after college where he worked and raised his family over the last 44 years.
Frank was a master computer and IT technician having worked for WANG laboratories, Fort Lee Police Department and Paterson Parking Authority. He was an extraordinarily hard worker and an innovative mind in the field of computer technology. Frank enjoyed many passions but what truly set him on fire was being a part of the traveling softball leagues he played with all of his buddies. He was also extremely passionate about his grandkids and spending time with family whether that meant family dinners, going for ice cream or hanging on the beach. Frank also had a deep and meaningful relationship with the Lord, which was the foundation on which he built the strength of his marriage and the closeness of his family.
Frank leaves behind his wife of 45 years, Susan Bersterman and his three children; daughter Lindsay and two sons Justin and Matthew. He is also survived by his grandchildren Ulises Guzman Jr., Luciano Guzman, Julian Guzman, and Logan Bersterman; as well as his sisters Norma Lee Moreland, Ada Mae Daniels, Tharion Abtahi and Carol Vanorsdale. Frank also leaves behind so many treasured friends, many of which he counted as family.
He was predeceased by his parents Gudettia and Frank, brother James, and sisters Regina and Frannie.
A memorial gathering will be held on Thursday, April 14th from 4pm until the time of the memorial service at 5:30 pm at Damiano Funeral Home, 191 Franklin Avenue in Long Branch. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Searchlight Church at https://www.searchlightchurch.com/give. I was so glad when we reconnected again after so many years. You were one of my few true friends in life I thought I would never see again. We shared some crazy times in our young life. We tell people about those times and they doubt us but we know it's all true. It made me so happy to know you had a great career with a wonderful wife and family you so rightfully deserved !!! You always were a go getter!!! Got to see you enjoy your passion of playing softball in Glen Burnie and meet your team mates! I've missed our recent times together when you came to Baltimore to care for your Brother Jimmy. Our evenings having dinner and a couple of beers at Red Brick Station! I'll have a red ale in your memory at Red Brick!!! You were such a great guy! I'll miss you so much my old friend. True friends are so few and when you lose one a piece of your heart goes with them. I Love You Brother! Till we meet again.
