Frank Bly Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Chamberland Funerals & Cremations on Dec. 2, 2025.
Frank Matthew Bly, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away on Friday, November 28, 2025. Born on January 9, 1958, in Clinton, Iowa, to Donald and Eileen Bly, Frank was a man defined by his quiet strength, fierce loyalty, and sharp intelligence.

Frank grew up in Fulton, Illinois, where he demonstrated discipline early in life. A 1976 graduate of Fulton High School, he was a strong wrestler, concluding his senior year with an impressive record, losing only a single match. His dedication to service and excellence earned him the distinguished rank of Silver Palm Eagle Scout.

He continued his education at the University of Iowa, where he demonstrated his characteristic work ethic by driving a bus to pay for much of his tuition. He graduated in 1984 with a degree in Electrical Engineering.

Following graduation, Frank embarked on a successful career as a Systems Engineer in the Aerospace and Defense industry. He worked for major employers including Texas Instruments and Raytheon, where his stoic focus and intelligence were highly valued until his retirement in 2014.

On October 5, 1985, Frank married the love of his life, Maureen. Together they built a life in Garland, Texas, raising two sons. While he was often a man of few words, those close to him knew his thoughtful nature and his dry sense of humor-affectionately earning him nicknames like "Frankie," "Fronk," and even "Frankenstein."

In his spare time, Frank found joy in the simple pleasures of gardening, cooking, maintaining local nature preserves, and keeping up with current events.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Eileen Bly.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Maureen Bly of Garland, TX; his sons, Dillon (Alex) Bly of Fremont, CA, and Keaton Bly of Rowlett, TX; and his grandson, Kieran Bly.

He is also survived by his siblings: Colleen (Mrs. Pat) Van Kampen of Fulton, IL; Marguerite (Mrs. Jim) Strom of Arden Hills, MN; Maurita (Mrs. Robert) Johnson of Clinton, IA; Monica Bly (Michele) of Bullard, TX; Dan (Vicki) Bly of Fulton, IL; Pat (Debbie) Bly of Fulton, IL; and Dr. Timothy (Kim) Bly of Chesterfield, MO.
