Dr. Emory Frank Bowers, a beloved father and "pawpaw," and an avid outdoorsman, passed away on May 28, 2024, at the age of 82. Frank's life was marked by his love for the great outdoors and the simple joys it offered. Frank was born in Royston, GA and grew up in Toccoa, GA where his enthusiasm for everything outdoors flourished. He found solace and excitement in activities like hunting and fishing. His passion for these pursuits was matched only by his dedication to training and hunting with his bird dogs, a pastime that brought him immense fulfillment and camaraderie. He was an Army veteran, a proud graduate from Louisiana State University and the University of Georgia, and a wildlife biologist who retired from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service after 20+ years. Frank's interests and work took him across the continent from Georgia to Michigan, Canada to Alaska, and every place in between where he never missed an opportunity to hunt and fish along the way. However, Frank's greatest joy came from all of his children's achievements and watching them grow up. Whether it was cheering from the sidelines at the baseball games, softball fields, and equestrian competitions, or taking them on adventures in the woods, hunting trips, fishing in the canoe, and to the fair (where bumper cars were a necessity), Frank relished every moment spent in their company and took immense pride in his children's accomplishments over the years. Frank is survived by his wife of 53 years, JoAnne Borne Bowers, daughters, Susan and Katie Bowers, son, Greg Bowers (Helen), granddaughter, Zinnia Bowers, sister, Theresa Pickard (Lee), and niece, Tracy Morrison (James). He is also survived by his great-nieces and nephew, many cousins, and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents Lloyd and Katherine Bowers, and his niece Paige Pickard. Though he may no longer walk among us, his spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him and each memory of Frank will be cherished and forever treasured. His family takes comfort in knowing he is now able to enjoy endless hunts and fishing trips where there is always something at the end of the fishing line, every turkey call is answered, all of his four-legged companions are by his side, and his favorite country song is playing in the background. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and hunting buddies. In keeping with Frank's wishes, there will be no funeral services. All expressions of sympathy, including honorary donations to
a favorite charity, cards, and favorite stories/memories of Frank are welcome.Condolences may be sent or viewed at www.wagesfuneralhome.com. Tom M. Wages Funeral Service, 120 Scenic Hwy.,
