Frank H. Gray Sr.

1935 - 2025

Frank H. Gray, Sr. of North East, MD, passed away on Monday, November 3, 2025, four days shy of his 90th birthday, with his family by his side. Born on November 7, 1935, he was the son of the late George Gerald Gray and Ruth England Kennedy.

Frank began working with the B & O Railroad, prior to being drafted into the Army from 1958-1960. Following his time with the military, he worked for General Cable, which became Pirelli Cable. When Pirelli closed, he went to work for the Cecil County Board of Education in the maintenance department until his retirement.

He was a member of Elkton UM Church and, during his younger years, attended Shelemiah UM Church.

Frank had a love for the outdoors, working with his father-in-law on the farm and planting large gardens, raising many different kinds of vegetables and sweet corn. He was also an avid waterman, fishing commercially, crabbing, and just plain fishing for fun. He loved hunting for deer, and also geese and ducks on the Susquehanna Flats. During his time in the Army, he developed a love for fast-pitch softball and played in many local leagues around the area.

Frank is survived by his wife of 61 years, Betty, sons Ralph Gerald Gray and Frank H. Gray, Jr., his brother Kenneth Gray (Marie), and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brother George "Sonny" Gray and his sister, Marianne Reese.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025 at 2:00 pm at Crouch Funeral Home, P.A., 127 South Main Street, North East, MD, where family and friends may begin gathering at 1:00 pm.

Burial will be private.
