Frank W. Maslanka Sr., beloved father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully and unexpectedly at his home on July 17, 2024, at the young age of 73. Born on January 23, 1951, to Wladyslawa and Frank J. Maslanka, he spent his childhood in Harvey, Illinois, where he was an energetic boy who loved playing outside and getting into mischief.
Frank achieved his lifelong dream of becoming a police officer, a career he pursued with dedication despite facing many hardships. His resilience and determination allowed him to overcome each obstacle in his path. Known for his big heart, Frank was always ready to help those in need, whether it was his mother, sister, children, family, or friends. He often offered his support, sometimes accompanied by a lecture, but always with love.
One of the most touching aspects of Frank's life was his relationship with his dog, Sarge. Their bond was more than just that of a pet and owner; it was a true companionship that brought immense joy to Frank. By his side through thick and thin, Sarge was a constant source of unconditional love and loyalty.
Frank was a boisterous and strong man, who deeply loved his family. He always had a pot of coffee ready, not just for himself but for anyone who wanted to join him. He was a passionate fan of baseball and hockey, especially his favorite teams, the Chicago White Sox and the Chicago Blackhawks.
Frank is survived by his sister, Teresa J. Maslanka, and his children: Adam Maslanka, Karen Stott, Teresa Ayala, Kristina Maslanka, and Frank W. Maslanka Jr. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Gavin Maslanka, Gemma Maslanka, Haley Maslanka, Logan Maslanka, Agnieszka Maslanka, Ariella Maslanka, Henry Maslanka, Angelena Maslanka, Kaylee Maslanka, Josie Ayala and Jiovanni Ayala. Each of his children and grandchildren held a special place in his heart, and he took great pride in their accomplishments and growth. Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Frank J. Maslanka and Wladyslawa Maslanka.
Frank's strength, love, and unwavering support will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy is one of courage, strength and an indomitable spirit. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends forever.
