Frank W. Squire, Jr., age 80, a resident of Pleasant Ridge Manor, passed away on Thursday, June 1, 2023, at UPMC Hamot after a lengthy illness. Born in Erie on April 11, 1943, he was a son of Norma (Emling) Squire, of Erie, and the late Frank W. Squire Sr.
Frank was a graduate of Cranberry High School, class of 1961. Right after high school he worked for Asplundh prior to starting his career as a lineman at GTE/Verizon. Frank was also a collector of antique automobiles, attending and displaying his cars at shows, where he was the recipient of many awards. He also enjoyed collecting antiques, and flea markets.
Besides his mother, he is survived by his wife of 44 years, Jeanne (Furman) Squire, also a resident of Pleasant Ridge; a sister Diana Stoker (Richard), and brothers Gary Squire (Eugene Ratliff) of Erie, Gregory Squire (Ann) of Pittsburgh; three children, Frank W. Squire III, wife Robin, of Van Buran, Ohio, Brenda DiMattio, husband Ed, of Waterford, and Jeffrey Squire, wife Tamura, of Erie; a stepson, Brian Kimmel, wife Kimberly, of Phoenix, Ariz.; eight grandchildren, Michael, Kimber, Taylor (John), Tucker, Emma (Travis), Edward, Catherine, and Kayla; nine great grandchildren, Hannah, Michaela, Cameron, Ella, Rylee, Olivia, Emma, Oliver, and Nolan; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would especially send thanks to the staff of Pleasant Ridge Manor and that of UPMC Hamot 4West for not only their respective outstanding care, but also their compassion shown to Frank and his family during this difficult time.
